Aesthetics of Conflict

2017. Drawing, pen on paper. 48cm(r)

Aesthetics of Conflict is a drawing adapted from the tropes of contemporary screen-media. The scenes in this drawing are all derived from war films, historical literature and photographs. Key scenes include the German retreat from Kursk in 1944, the bombing of Dresden in 1945 and the brothels of La Rochelle as seen in Das Boot (1981).
